So I never saw myself as the blogging type. I didn't figure I was computer savvy enough to do it and I kind of figured it was for computer nerds. However, the Lord in his wisdom has decided to take my life along several paths that I never thought I would cross in my life so it only seems fitting that I cross over into the blogging world as well!
I decided to start this blog after reading several wonderful blogs written by several wonderful ladies who have all been through, or are currently going through what I am... Adoption!
But, before I get to that I want to start from the beginning of our journey to expand our family. Dh and I were married almost 5 years ago and in December of 2006 we decided that it was time to add to our little family. After 5 months of trying to conceive we received some great news... We were expecting! It was a fun and exciting experience for a week until we found out I was miscarrying. This was the first time my life took a turn down a path that I did not expect and I took it very hard. I figured getting and staying pregnant was easy so why couldn't I do it? All of my friends and family members made it look easy. As a matter of fact it seems like the majority of people I knew who did get pregnant weren't even trying. So I didn't expect anything different for us. Unfortunately, trying to get pregnant again wasn't as easy and by the time the EDD of the little angel we lost came around we still were not pregnant.
That is when I got fed up with month after month of disappointment and decided to do everything I could think of to convince God that we deserved a child. I prayed, fasted, read the Good Book (the book of Job and Psalms really hit the spot with me at the time) anything I could think of. I even devoted myself to my church responsibilities as a Sunday School teacher and Cub Scout Den Leader. Finally, in February of this year we received an answer to my prayers. A family member (or our earth angel as I like to think of her) offered us the greatest gift anyone here on this earth could give us. A child. Our child, as she refers to him. She just happens to be carrying him for us :)
So, fast forward 3 1/2 months (24 weeks into the pregnancy), we know that the baby is a boy, we have a lawyer working on contacting the bfather, and the mother lives much closer now and we get to hang out often which is great. We've been able to feel him move and will get to be a part of the prenatal care and birth. It makes it tough because it is next to impossible not to get attached (which is probably the first cardinal sin of the adoption process). Especially because we know that there are MANY different roadblocks that have and will continue come up over the next 16 weeks. I just hope and pray daily that none will be a deal breaker. And if you want to add your prayers to ours, we would love it! I do feel very calm and peaceful about this... okay, I'll be honest... I feel very calm and peaceful about this when I am close to the Lord, the rest of the time I'm a crazy, stressed out mess... so I hope that is the Lord's way of telling me, "Yes, he is yours! Now calm down because you are really starting to get annoying!"
I want to blog about our experience to keep family and friends up to date and to document this experience so that our son never once questions the love that his father and I have for him. Also, I have found the most comfort in learning from and spending time with wonderful women who have similar expereince so if I can share that comfort with others that would be icing on the cake!
